| Established in 1934 by Paul H.
Felts and his wife Rose. The Company was started
as a hobby and operated part-time during those
early years. Paul worked for the Chrysler
Corporation and Felts Lock until Chryslers
departure from Evansville in the 1950's. The
lock shop continue to grow but remained a mom
and pop operation until his death in 1973.
William L. Felts President
entered the business after the death of his
father in 1973. Previously an Industrial
Engineer with a Canvas Manufacture. Native of
Southern Indiana with no experience in the lock
industry. Joining, him in the business was his
wife Anita G. Felts Secretary/Treasurer. Since
entering the business, it has had continued
growth and today has 20 more employees,
operating 9 service trucks.
Arthur Osborne joined the
company in 1985 and is currently serving as
Service Manager.
David Chessor joined the
company in 1992 and is the Office Manager and
Assistant to the President.
In 1995 William Felts
purchased Elgee Sales and Service of
Huntingburg. Moving the business to Jasper in
December 1995 into a new building at 3561 Newton
Street. David Chessor was appointed President
and the name was changed to Felts Lock. Jason
Barber is Service Manager.
In 1999, William Felts
purchased Gerding Lock and Safe and moved the
business into a newly remolded building at 10 SE
3rd St in Evansville Indiana. |
